Maltese producer Malcolm Scerri-Ferrante joins the MIFF international jury

The international successful Malta-born producer Malcolm Scerri-Ferrante accepts to join the MIFF jury. He will be the only member representing Malta in the festival international jury.

MALCOLM SCERRI-FERRANTE has been working in the film and TV industry since his teens and he is credited in well over 50 productions. His Production Manager credits include ‘Munich’, 'The Count of Monte Cristo ', ' Astérix and Obélix - Mission: Cléopatra ', 'Eragon' and smaller budget films and TV shows. His Line Producer credits include Sharon Stone's feature ' A Different Loyalty' as well as Advertising Campaigns for Shell, American Express , Coca Cola and other leading clients.

Efficiency and cost-effective management are the characteristics of his work which have earned him his reputation. For a two-year span he also locally managed numerous international productions at a water-facility studio (MFS) and throughout his career he has served on numerous film advisory boards and committees set up by the Government of Malta.

Besides his film work, Malcolm has also written, produced and directed several hours of varied TV programming including 25 hours of documentaries, some of which were European co-productions which won him prestigious nominations and awards. His work has taken him to Canada, South Africa, Central/Eastern Europe and of course Malta where he was born. He presently resides in Vancouver, Canada.

For the first time Malta will celebrate International Cinema in a huge international film festival under the name of “Malta International Film Festival” from the 15th till 23rd September 2007. The event is organized by – Association pour l'échange culturel entre l'Europe et l'Orient (AECEO) an association based in Paris with the cooperation of AraMage Artistic Production, a leading international production company and AJR Events a leading event management company in Malta with the support of the Maltese Ministry of tourism and culture. The festival board has approached a number of international celebrities to participate in the first round as guests, tributes and jury members. Also a number of international cinema organizations and companies have been approached to participate in this event. The festival will have more than five different sections with an international competition for long feature films. An international film market will be held during the festival with participation of more than 50 international companies and organizations than and the festival will held more than ten different activities. The festival aims to promote Malta as a desirable film shooting location and to open a dialogue between cinema professionals all over the world.
