The poster of the 16th edition of the Holland Animation Film Festival is designed by Italian graphic artist Gabriella Giandelli. Giandelli (1963) has built an impressive portfolio of cartoons and illustrations. Her work has been published in big international magazines and glossies, her children series Milo was the base of a television series and she designed for Memphis, Alessi and Swatch, among others. The poster of HAFF this year, tells its own story, unworldly and vivid. 

‘The idea was to create a mystery, as if a shadowy creature came into town and then, rising in the air, began to project a new light on the city. I wanted to do something a little 'dark but joyful. As the darkness in the movie theater takes us to new and magical visions,' says the artist.

Her hand drawn work is rich of contrast and colours, a recognisable style that’s in line with her other work. ‘I often describe surreal and mysterious situations, a little 'metaphysical.’ The artist uses coloured pencils to shape her exceptional, unusual stories. The typography of the poster is done by Joost Swarte.

Promo Videogioco: A Loop Experiment

Director Donato Sansone’s Videogioco: A Loop Experiment uses an innovative technique to shape his humouristic story. The film, screened at HAFF in 2009, is shown by HAFF in cinemas to give a striking impression of the festival. The animation changes the vocabulary of the art discipline and shows that there is a totally different dimension possible in drawn film.



The short film, that lasts over one and a half minutes, interests every second. With its surprising character it is a good representation of what’s coming on the festival. Donate Sansone has won the Renzo Kinoshita Prize on the Hiroshima festival with this film.
