23. FilmFestival Cottbus preview

Amateur and semi-professional film-makers from the Berlin-Brandenburg region and the Saxon part of Lusatia can still send in their contributions for the 11th FilmSchow which will take place on the 4th of November at the Film Theater Weltspiegel. This year’s motto is "Discover your Homeland!". The FilmShow is a popular competition that offers a unique forum for amateur and semi-professional film-makers. It provides a large canvas for works from all genres with a maximum length of 15 minutes.

Some screenings took place in Bundesplatzkino Berlin 

The expert juries have decided on the movies that will most likely be part of this year’s Feature Film Competition, Short Film Competition and U 18 German-Polish Youth Film Competition. During the three selection marathons many hours were spent in front of big and small screens in a movie theatre and in an office in Berlin and Warsaw. This year’s final program will be released mid of October – so get ready for the 23. FilmFestival Cottbus!

FilmFestival Cottbus on European summer tour

FilmFestival Cottbus presented BEING LIKE DEYNA at the Solanin Film Festival in Nowa Sol/Poland

Summer time is travel time and the FilmFestival Cottbus went on an international tour from Karlovy Vary, Sarajevo to Locarno and Gdynia. In addition to film presentations and networking, it was mainly about the research of productions for the 23rd edition of the festival which takes place from November 5th -10th. For the first time, the festival was present at the Solanin Film Festival in Nowa Sól/Poland and at the Incredible Film Festival in Potsdam. On various open-air events, the festival screened exciting films from recent editions, like HOLGER & HANNA at the 2nd Open-Air-Cinema-Night in Welzow and TILT at the first Lausitziale in Spremberg.
