In the first half of the 20th century, La Louvière was a prosperous mining town in Belgium. Today, more than three decades after the closing of the last mine, this same place is generally known as a grim town famous for its high unemployment rates. Still, to those who are willing to look beyond the statistics, this town reveals its beauty. In particular, this documentary shows a multicultural and convivial dream come true.
The two main protagonists (see picture) mama Jeanne from Congo and Pierre (see picture) from France mount a terril (slag heap) and discover the beauty of their habitat.
Comming from the Congo Mama mounts the terril in a typical African dress and high heels. The little mountain reminds her of Congo. At the summit treats the local population to blazed bananas and Chicken Moambe. The party at the summit depicts well the diversity of this town with the Africans to be the latest immigrants after the Italians, the Turks. Towards the end they are all surprised by the resurrection of singer Claude François, the French singing legend who passed away in an accident just a few years after La Louvière's last mine was closed down.

SUPERZEBRAMAN, a documentary about how to make the first Spanish Nigerian production of the history without having a clue. The scene: Nollywood, the Nigerian film industry that produces the largest number of films in the world, over the powerful Hollywood and Bollywood industries. A concept of the cinema in which the movies are rolled in two weeks and for less than 20.000 dollars, accessibly a priori and which Javier Urtasun believed attainable. The thing is that this special look to the seventh art definitively is a world full of possibilities, or at least this was what Javier Urtasun thought.
Born in agreement to the requirements of script of the Nigerian industry, SUPERZEBRAMAN (The movie) counts the history of a man who changes the color of his skin thanks to the power of the zebras. An ambiguous starting point that constitutes the first step of a way riddled with anecdotes gathered in this delirious documentary.
Probably after seeing the documentary we will understand why this first Spanish Nigerian film was never done before: it is necessary to have testicles. Great ode to life and to the dreams that it we should never stop fulfilling, in SUPERZEBRAMAN (The Documentary) you realize that though the producer is drunk and the director does not appear, the important thing is to know that the perimeter is defended by a good number of AK47.
These days people go and watch movies that have high quality visual effects and enjoy seeing large explosions, incredible creatures that look as of they could really exist, mind blowing action sequences, 3D images, and a variety of different effects that technology is allowing filmmakers and studios -who have the budget- to do.
However, with all the advances there is always the same complaint from movie goers and critics saying that what they are seeing on screen is not realistic. They a...
In the world of entertainment today, mainly speaking of film, it's a tough place to find originality. Hollywood films are losing that touch of creativity. It may not seem so when it comes to applying the technological advances in the art. When it comes to story, plot, characters, it seems as if we've heard it all before.
So what do we turn to? Mainstream Hollywood is losing its touch, it's time to look into independent film festivals where we could find the filmmakers of today, living ...
The effects of the global economy meltdown have sent a lot of developed countries scrambling to stay afloat. Everything they are experiencing now is nothing new to the third world where poverty, unemployment, poor education, disease, corruption, and crime have remained rampant. Suddenly, developed nations relate more to stories frequently associated with third world countries.
This did not go unnoticed by talented filmmakers who continuously raise the bar and maintain a keen s...
