Hawaii
As a native Hawaiian, I find that it's difficult to get past clicheed Hawaiian images in film--surfing, luaus, hula. What do you think of when you think of Hawaii/Hawaiians? Are there any films you've seen or books you've read that break down the stereotypes for you? Did they do it in a way that made you feel you had insight and shared emotions with the Hawaiian culture, or did you feel like an outsider?
