What do you think of when you see the word "Hawaiian"?

As a native Hawaiian, I find that it's difficult to get past clicheed Hawaiian images in film--surfing, luaus, hula.  What do you think of when you think of Hawaii/Hawaiians?  Are there any films you've seen or books you've read that break down the stereotypes for you?  Did they do it in a way that made you feel you had insight and shared emotions with the Hawaiian culture, or did you feel like an outsider?  I'd love to hear from anyone who'd like to share a thought or two.  ...
