TURKISH HEARTTHROB ACTOR TARIK AKAN

Turkish veteran actor Tarik AKAN is best known for his portrayal in Yilmaz Guney s epic YOL .

According to the Turkish CNN critic attending this year's Festival on Wheels - around 25 years ago, when Yol was made, all the women in Turkey fell in love with him and now after all those years, the same women are still in love with him !

With a hefty build and broad shoulders, embodying the same masculıne appeal as prevalent in popular Indian actors, he commands a calm and steady presence, adding a reassuring appeal for female audiences.

Attending a panel discussion on legendary Turkish film director and actor Yilmaz Güney's "Yol" (The Way), which was screened at the Kars Fılm Festıval, Tarik AKAN was greeted with affection, respect and even reverence, by both senior and junior fans, as one youngster even pressed his way through the cınema aıles to kiss him on both hands and utter complıments.

YOL was dıscussed by the popular lead actor and a 30-minute footage, which was never used in the film before was shown for the first time, 25 years after production.

Donat Keusch, the Swiss producer of the film, and Elizabeth Waecthli, who edited the movie together with Yilmaz Güney were part of the Panel dıscussıon offering their own anecdotes on the making of the film and on theır workıng relatıon wıth Guney, who directed the movıe from prison ın Turkey.

At the end of the discussion in a characteristic charming gesture, the Turkish actor offered 4 fragrant bouquets of flowers he received to 4 enchanted females in the audience at random.
