Food Film Festival - Call for Entries

In May 2014 the Food Film Festival Amsterdam celebrates its fourth edition. Once again a selection of the best food films from all corners of the globe will screen. Therefore, Food Film Festival Amsterdam is looking for all films on food and opens a call for entries for filmmakers, distributors, film festivals and film lovers around the world.

The Festival

During three days the Food Film Festival attempts to cover all aspects of everything related to food. Aside from documentaries, feature films, animation, short and experimental films the festival boasts a variety of debate, lectures, live shows and workshops. This broad approach leads to the multifaceted program the subject deserves.

The Food Film Festival believes that good stories have the power to transform the world.

By creating a stage for food stories the Food Film Festival hopes to convey the love for food and at the same time it denounces the many problems related to our current day food system.

Films

Apart from food, the Food Film Festival loves film. It encourages quality independent cinema and provides an opportunity for industry professionals from here and abroad to meet. The goal of the festival is also to continue to amplify cinematographic offering in Europe.

The Festival is looking for all films in which an important aspect of food is covered. That means that food can be the main subject, but not necessarily so. Food can play an important, but nevertheless secondary role, in the background even. Food can be used cinematographically to convey a message, emotion, atmosphere or idea. It can be used as aesthetic component. As object or as subject. You name it.

Practically

Registration is open for films of any genre and any length: feature, medium-length and short films. Fiction, documentary, experimental, animation, or whatever you consider to be film. The deadline for submission is the 1st of February 2014. Accepted films will be eligible for category-specific Awards. Details will be available on www.foodfilmfestival.nl in November 2013. The jury responsible for selecting the winners will include film industry professionals, none of whom are involved in the organization of the festival.
