Animated Films at ÉCU 2011
We are happy to bring you 5 animated films, that made it to the official selection of ÉCU 2011.
From Germany “Adveniat Regnum Meum” (dir Stefanie Katja Ernst)
Screening: Saturday,2nd of April, Session 3 (PSG3)
We are living in a world of victims and offenders. Male sexual desire
and aggressive abuse contrast with beatitudes, delivered by a woman who
appears in a red fog between several violent episodes. Eventually
stepping out of the fog, the woman is included in the story. Looking for
happiness she discovers her own instincts and holy pleasure, becoming a
martyr, a heroin amongst good and evil!
From Portugal “Conto do Vento” (Dir. Claudio Jordao & Nelson Martins)
Screening: Sunday, 3rd of April, Session 16 (ADG1)
Salva had the gift of feeling the life of nature through her body. She
lived in the forest across the river with Ábia his mother and she was
happy until the day her life changed. Men and women of the village
forced her to watch the burning of her mother accused of witchcraft.
Years later the fear that the villagers had to her mother is the same
that move them against her.

A young boy with an absent father. A spent afternoon watching the washing machine. A daydreaming becomes an initiatory trip.
From Netherlands “Miss Daisy Cutter” (Dir. Laen Sanches)

“Miss Daisy Cutter” is an animated short film by French director Laen
Sanches featuring the song ‘Nux Vomica’ by The Veils. If Walt Disney
took some bad acid this is what his trip would look like. Don’t say we
didn’t warn you.
From Poland “Paths of Hate” (Dir. Damian Nenow)
Screening: Opening Night, 1st of April
Focusing on combat. The dimension of fighting is irrelevant, as well as
the ideology behind it. It doesn’t matter if two people are involved or
millions. What remains are only scars – bloody traces, paths of hate.
“Paths of Hate” is a short tale about the demons that slumber deep in
the human soul and have the power to push people into the abyss of blind
hate, fury and rage. Falling into that abyss inevitably leads to
downright destruction and extinction.

Impressions sur la vie sociale urbaine entre les hommes et les femmes.
La force sexuelle masculine et la violation aggressive font contraste
avec les béatifications, qui sont prononcées par une femme apparaissant
dans un brouillard rouge entre des episodes violentes. Finalement
sortant le brouillard, elle est intégrée dans l’histoire. En cherchant
le bonheur elle découvre ses instincts et le plaisir sacré, devenant une
martyre, une heroine entre le bien et le mal!

Salva avait le don de sentir la vie de la nature à travers son corps.
Elle a vécu dans la forêt à travers le fleuve avec sa mère Abia et elle
était heureuse jusqu’au jour où sa vie a changé. Les hommes et les
femmes du village l’ont forcée à regarder l’incendie de sa mère accusée
de sorcellerie. Des années plus tard la crainte que les villageois
avaient à sa mère est la même que les déplacer à son encontre.

Un jeune garçon don’t le père est absent. Un après-midi passé à
surveiller la machine. Une reverie se transforme en voyage initiatique.

« Miss Daisy Cutter » est un court-métrage animé par Laen Sanches sur la
chanson “Nux Vomica” des Veils. Si Walt Disney s’était fait un mauvais
trip sous acides, ça aurait peut-être pu ressembler à ça. On vous aura

«Paths of Hate» est une histoire courte à propos des démons qui
sommeillent au fond de l’âme humaine et qui a le pouvoir de pousser les
gens dans les abysses de la haine aveugle, la fureur et la rage.
