Film reviews:

PRESS QUOTES AND AWARDS: Grazia Volpi, producer Taviani Brothers, Jury presidente European Film Festival Lecce 2013 abouth Silent Ones Winner Best Cinematography and Winner Best Supporting Actor:The magnificent photography makes the landscape come alive and reflects the changes in the main characters mood in a beautiful way. Jos Stelling well-known Dutch filmmaker, Jury president Scenecs Debut Film Festival abouth Silent Ones,Winner Dutch Golden Stone Best Film 2013: A very secure quest for the essence of film. The only narrative basis is a cargoship at sea, a threatened woman and an old secret. The film makes no attempt to offer cheap pleasures; you keep looking at somethingthat is harsh and stern, and yet amazing and moving. The logical cinematographic approach and beautiful acting make this film a complete universe in itself. Great film Jim Delvaux, director Berlin Independent Film Festival Silent Ones Winner Berlin Ind, Film Festival Berlin 2014 Quotes:Slow Criticism festivalists critic Dana Linssen: Impressive first feature Silent Ones, ingenious, non-linear structure. Echoes of great European directors like Tarkovski or Bela Tarr. Rutger Wolfson, director International Film Festival Rotterdam:I think its a very special movie. Very mature, visually overwhelming and a very penetrating story. I am very proud to show it in the Tiger competition. Danny Lennon, Curator Film PHI Centre Montreal: Outstanding Film Debut. Attention talent! One of the best films i saw at the International Film Festival Rotterdam. Philippe Bober, Coproduction Office:I enjoyed screening it, it is really a very good film, with quite strong visuals. Orsi is very good in it. Jim Stark, American Independent Producer (a.o. Jim Jarmusch) With gorgeous visual imagery and an elliptical but very poetic story, her debut film Silent Ones has earned Ricky Rijneke a place among Europe's best young up and coming directors. The Hollywood reporter:Arty thriller Silent Ones has a intriguing set-up and a stylish look, visually ravishing.35 Moscow International Filmfestival (by Avoniya): A search, a journey and a meditation of one lost, this is a bleak film but as a feature debut it is very selfassured. Shot by the Rotterdam director in the Hungarian language, it is likely to signal the presence of a strong new name in European cinema. Screen International Geoffrey Macnab:International distributors already see Rijneke as a talent to follow. International Cinephile Society (ICS): A powerful, very self-assured debut, Silent Ones confirms that the director is one to watch. It is somewhat reminiscent of Bruno Dumont's Hors Satan, only much softer and warmer. A powerful, very self-assured debut, Silent Ones confirms that the director is one to watch. De Volkskrant (Daily Dutch newspaper): A wonderful discovery Silent Ones, the confident disrupting debut of filmmaker Ricky Rijneke. New Horizons International Film Festival (by Magdalena Sztorc): An enchantingly mature debut from Ricky Rijneke. The Dutch author cleverly combines social engagement with poetic sensitivity. The film slightly resembles the works of Ulrich Seidl or Ursula Antoniak, is unsettling and skilfully celebrates an atmosphere of secrecy. Filmkrant (Magazine on Film): Ingenious scenario, which begins in the middle, looks ahead and then look back.
