About the Director:

Nishanthi Evani tells her story- “I grew up in Chennai and then I went to Hyderabad to work on a movie and stayed on for a few years before finally I decided that Bombay was the place to be. Growing up I always had a different kind of appreciation for films thanks to my parents who were major film buffs and critics. My father is a song writer and a composer for films in Telugu and Tamil. So, films have always been a part of my life. Also, for a socially awkward, reserved single child like me, movies played a major part in forming my personality. But it wasn’t till I worked on an ad film while working as an intern for the then HTA, that I was lured by the magic of filmmaking. When the time had come to pick my choice of career, the choice seemed obvious.

Since then I worked and assisted many directors, made a few other shorts and TVCs and even wrote a few screenplays. To me there is no difference between a short and a feature. I always only wanted to tell stories visually. Some stories will take more than an hour and some take less than a minute. But they all still have something worth telling in them. I grew up on films that had a huge emotional impact on me. Movies by directors like Hrishikesh Mukherjee, Charlie Chaplin, Elia Kazan, Balachander, Raj kapoor and millions of others and I aspire to make and be part of films like them.
