Information about the Festival Gdansk DocFilm Festival / GDFF / is the only one in the world, mainly thematic festival of documentary films about the working environment, man, human activity, ways to survive in different conditions and situations, creative passions. GDFF's realized since 2003 a significant undertaking for the culture of cinema. Each year, is gaining in importance and popularity, and its coverage reaches across a wide spectrum deliverers, manufacturers and distributors of documentary films at home and abroad. Matters, the method of transmission, richness and massage diversity extend awareness not only of the working people. Move hearts, sensibiliser, stimulate imagination, inspire and give an opportunity to discuss the current problems of the work world. Past editions of the Festival have reached this goal. The event is already entered in the international calendar of thematic film festivals. Each year we receive a very interesting images of the local communities' life, often different culturally and religiously, but with a common human and global dimension of environmental work problems. The event meets the expectations of film producers, who seek space for presentation of films about work. In this way we fill the theme niche in competitions organized around the world. We are convinced that Gdansk is a good place to present films about the dignity of the working man. It is not just a reference to the tradition of August 1980. It is mainly taking the discussion on current and future visions occurring in work environments not only in Poland but also in Europe. For six consecutive editions of the Festival was reported nearly 800 films from whole world, and over 180 have fought in the contest for the statuette "The Gate of Freedom". The first edition was held in 2003. Last took place on 24-27 April 2008. The festival is implemented in cooperation, inter alia, with the Polish Institute of Film Art, University of Gdansk, the Marshal Office of Pomeranian Region, and with the participation of President of Gdansk, founder of the main prize in the competition part. Each year, Gdansk DocFilm Festival has greater popularity - this year we've been visited by more than 2,000 spectators. With my passing travels , Istanbul stays « enigmatic and without secret far from prevailing visibilities »(M.J. Mondzain)
All is mixed , all is there , not in organized , protected , preserved , structured stratum , but in accumulations , wearing ,erasing ,emptiness and chaos .
Wild garden , here , the cycle of the life and the death ; nothing is destroyed , all is living , wearing out , continuing .
The clock : the Bosphorus .
This city is way , passing times . I perceive , as nowhere else , something of the infinity , the incessant , where the times are mixing, flux appearing , disappearing , the presence of other times at the edge of the visible..
the little girl with the red shoes will pass all the time , for all the times .
all is here , all the time .
she is too an open book , alluvium , memory which produces signs , prints , oblivion, in this anxious and elegant nonchalance ,
she is too the opposite , daydream of the time , a Borgesian invention , a metaphysic illusion , as Jean Seberg was an illusion of cinema in Les hautes solitudes de Philippe Garrel .
the film is a document , which is concerned with the times , the memory.
It’s a travel, to go with .. it’s never a comment , even less a plastic experience .
Behind , there is my interest for iconic quality of photographic and filmic argentic picture , Its capacity to let itself traverse , to link the visible and invisible , by its print nature .
