"Widows" is the story of four women with nothing in common except a debt left behind by their dead husbands' criminal activities. Set in contemporary Chicago, amid a time of turmoil, tensions build when Veronica (Viola Davis),  Alice (Elizabeth Debicki), Linda (Michelle Rodriguez) and Belle (Cynthia Erivo) take their fate into their own hands and conspire to forge a future on their own terms.  Directed by Steven McQueen, also stars Liam Neeson, Daniel Kaluuya and Colin Ferrell.

The Hate You Give

Starr Carter is constantly switching between two worlds: the poor, mostly black, neighborhood where she lives and the rich, mostly white, prep school she attends. The uneasy balance between these worlds is shattered when Starr witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the hands of a police officer. Now, facing pressures from all sides of the community, Starr must find her voice and stand up for what's right. The Hate You Give  is Directed By  George Tilman Jr, and stars Amandla Stenberg, Algee Smith,  Issa Rae, Regina Hall, Common, Anthony Mackie.

SPECIAL FEATURE SPECIAL GUEST

	Three "woke" Black students from 2017 find themselves sitting at a lunch counter in 1960. Will they be served?

Tracy "Twinkie" Byrd has built a reputation in this business as a Casting Director, for films such as "Fruitvale Station", "Fig", "Filly Brown" and "Southside With You", and worked with Directors such as, Ryan Coogler, Richard Tanneand Michael Olmos. After a decade of quietly nurturing her own creative eye, she is now expanding her focus to the Director's chair.  

 

In doing so, Tracy's aim is to help cultivate a conversation bridge between races and generations, on diversity, equality, change, and inclusion in Hollywood and around the world. As her artistic energies continue to spawn a varied body of work, it is her hope that she will be making a significant contribution toward shifting perceptions toward a better world for all.

Join IBFF and Tracy Bird for a screening of her film "The Counter: 1960" followed  by a Q&A on October 5th, 1:00pm at Woolworth on 5th.

• Special Screening of the "Little Apple" Series  PLUS an amazing      line-up films for all ages.

• How to Make My Short Film and Becoming a Film Critic.
• Special effects presentation featuring Rick Prince Creator of          Demogorgan from Netflix's #1 show "Stranger Things".
