Corto e Fieno

Corto e Fieno is a Festival dedicated to rural cinema.

The Festival aims to examine the persistence of rural culture in contemporary society through the various forms and structures of film. Its objective is to gather testimonies from the rural world and to encourage in new generations a renewal of the traditions of the land in an innovative and lasting way.

Corto e Fieno does not seek to be apocalyptic or overly sentimental; there is no lamenting about the extinction of idyllic rural life, and the festival does not demonize modernity. Corto e Fieno reflects on the relationship between rural life and the more modern urban movement, exploring both positive progress and unfortunate consequences of change, seeking to point out areas of conflict and urge consideration of possible solutions.

Corto e Fieno - Rural Film Festival

Corto & Fieno – Rural Film Festival underlines the importance of cinematic representations of rural life in contemporary cinema. The 8th edition of the Festival intends to go on working on these subjects through films dealing with the relationship between man and land. The idea is to draw attention to rural culture, both in Italy and in other parts of the world. “Frutteto” (Orchard) is the short films contest through which the Festival aims to give space to film projects with a focus on the rural world.

The subject of the film must follow the general theme of the Festival regarding the life and work of the land, the relationship between nature and man from a rural point of view. All genres welcome.

The Festival will be held in Ameno, Omegna and Miasino, Lake Orta (Italy), on 15th, 16th and 17th September 2017, according to a schedule that will be announced a few weeks before the start of the event.

All submitted works must be a maximum length of 30 minutes. Videos both edited and unedited will be accepted, provided that they were completed after 1st January 2015.
