Hostway VP Aaron Hollobaugh Chats with Aviva Press

By Maria Esteves – July 3, 2012

The 10th International 2012 Cloud Computing Conference & Exposition commenced June 11-14, at Javits Convention Center, New York. Produced by SYS-CON Media, Cloud Computing annually showcase the latest technologies in IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service), SaaS (Software as a Service), PaaS (Platform as a Service), from migration to hosting to business applications to interoperations to enterprise architecture and security in the cloud.

Hostway Corporation, a leader in Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) solutions provider discussed moving to the cloud Big Data, mission-critical, and database applications at the 2012 New York Cloud Computing Expo. I had the distinct privilege chatting with Hostway’s VP of Marketing Aaron Hollobaugh during 2012 Cloud Computing Expo on Wednesday, June 13, 4:00pm.

ME: Briefly describe Hostway.

AH: Hostway founded in 1998, in North America Chicago, Ill, is one of the world’s largest cloud hosting providers. Hostway serves over 600, 000 customers directly and 2 million indirectly through our award-winning partner services network. We specialize in Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), offering Platform as a Service (PaaS), as well as website hosting, email hosting, and application hosting. We operate datacenters in 12 different countries, as well as Vancouver, British Columbia; Austin, Texas; Chicago, Illinois; and Tampa, Florida. Hostway is focused on building secure multi-tenant space. We provide cost effective enterprise class technologies regardless of company size.

ME: What are the new features of the cloud operating system MS-Windows Server 2012?

AH: A new feature in Windows Server 2012 is the ability for mission critical applications to run effectively in a cloud environment. Because of the increased website density efficiency, scalability, and elasticity Windows 2012 will be effective for applications hosting and database-intensive applications hosting. We also have Network Virtualization which is most exiciting for Hostway because it provides multiple datacenters. Windows Hyper-V Replica allows companies to perform server replication across the Internet without regard to the underline physical network topology and allow to replicate virtual machines from one datacenter to another datacenter.

Another advantage of Windows Server 2012 is storage. It helps deliver the promises of the cloud with continuous availability. For example, if there is a component failover, with Windows Server 2012 there is no blackout period and no service interruption. The features are built into the operating system. For Hostway customers and consumers of cloud technologies the ability to connect datacenters through our public cloud infrastructure and provide the level of fault tolerance, the ability to further deliver on high availability promises of the cloud, and to perform robust application and mission-critical application hosting within the windows operating system is really exciting. We launched Windows 2012 Server evaluation for IT professionals to use. In the Fall 2012, Hostway will be the first to launch Windows Hyper-V Replica.

Thank you Aaron.
