2008 New York Television Festival Coverage

The Fourth Annual New York Television Festival (NYTVF) was held at the New World Stages, September 12 - 17, 2008. NYTVF annually presents Independent Pilot Competition, panel discussions, premiere screenings, special events, awards ceremony, and gala receptions. This year's television festival included 6 premieres and 37 pilots (documentary, comedy, drama, animation, nonscripted, and family), University, Industry, and Digital Day
panel discussions, seminars, special events, awards ceremony, and cocktail receptions.

2008 NYTVF Industry Day panel discussion "The Future of Comedy Development" moderated by managing editor, features Matthew Belloni, Hollywood Reporter, commenced Monday, September 15, 5:00 PM.  The panelist included svp of animation Jennifer Howell, Twentieth Century Fox Television; svp original programming television and digital development Lou Wallach,
Comedy Central; and founding partner Kara Welker, Generate. The industry leaders discussed the current state of TV development and the new digital platforms within the genre of comedy.

2008 NYTVF Digital Day keynote panel discussion "The New Storytellers: What Works on the Web" moderated by partner, Marc Chamlin, LOEB & LOEB, LLP, commenced Tuesday, September 16, 4:30 PM. The panelist included general manager Rob Bennett, MSN Entertainment & Video Services; vice president digital media Craig Parks, IFC; co-founder/creative director Fred Seibert, Next New Networks; and executive vice president motion pictures television &
miniseries Quinn Taylor, ABC Entertainment. The panel of industry leaders
discussed Internet Television, the highlights and successes of online video content platform on the web.

2008 NYTVF Awards Ceremony presented by NYTVF, Procter & Gamble Productions, FOX Television Network and People's Choice commenced Wednesday, September 17, 6:00 PM. NYTVF awards acknowledges the best independent television pilot shows and comedy scripts.

2008 NYTVF Closing Night Premiere of HBO new animated comedy series "The Life and Times of Tim," created/written/executive produced by Steven Dildarian immediately followed the awards ceremony on Wednesday, September 17, 7:00 PM. A special Q&A session with creator Steven Dildarian preceded the 2008 NYTVF Closing Night Cocktail Reception.
