The Next Director Award is a brand new award set to unearth the best new directorial talent and promote it back to the industry. Both the winner and shortlisted directors will get incredible exposure at international screenings and through the D&AD and YouTube platforms. And to top that, mentoring from top production companies – which, for the right candidate, could turn into on-shoot experience or representation.

How to Enter
Have a look at the entry rules and check the How to Enter guide for the material requirements, submission formats, file specs and additional supporting information you need to supply.
Upload your film to YouTube, you’ll need a link to your film on YouTube when you submit your entry online.
Create an account, login and upload your film to the media library. You will also need to include as much information as possible about your work in the supporting information fields.
The entry fee is £40 (GBP), $75 (USD) or €65 (EUR)
The Rules
They have less than two years of commercial experience. By 'commercial' we mean doing paid or commissioned work, or working for a company - directing adverts for a brand, music videos, feature films. Note that professional experience isn't a must. Aspiring directors with no professional experience can enter. There is no age limit to enter as long as they meet the above criteria, they are eligible to enter Finally, the work must have been created between 1 January 2014 and the entry deadline.
We do not accept:
Entries from established directors or directors who have been working commercially for over two years
