International Science Film Festival of Athens
- Targets:
- Broadening the interest of young people and students on science and science films (only 10% of Greek population is interested in science).
- Stimulating the interest of new directors on science film making (Greek science film production is limited).
- ISFFA with numbers:
- 574 Submitted Films from a variety of scientific fields and topics (Medical Sciences, Biology and Genetics, Environmental Sciences, History & Art, Exact Sciences, Astronomy, Technologies, History of Science and Technology)
- 32 Participated Countries (Europe (19), North and South America (5), Asia (4), Africa (2), Australia (2))
- 25 to 35 competition films per year
- 5 awards (Best Film, Innovation & Technology, Science Communication, Art, Audience) and special mentions (not annually).
- Approximately 6.000 viewers every year in Athens and 1.750 in Salonica
- Other events:
- Special Tributes to Science Film Association & Organizations (ASECIC, CNRS-Images)
- Special screenings
- Lectures
- Art and photography exhibitions
- Astronomy nights
- Film screenings at schools and universities
- Festival travels to Salonica, Patra, Samos, Lemesos-Cyprus and other small cities of Greece.
