justice
We are happy to announce that Women for Justice has been officially selected for AM Egypt Film Festival 2017.
...
Director: Daniel Burkholz and Sybille Fezer.
Forced marriages, domestic violence, over 100000 wives killed by fire in so called household accidents every year – in India, violence against women is omnipresent and nearly all women, independent of class, caste and religion are affected. Because Police and Justice hardly give any protection or aid, women in India have organised to fight against this violence and injustice. They founded the Women for Justice and the Nari Adalat womens courts. Every week they gather on the roof terrace of the local government or on a dusty place under a tree and dispense justice themselves. With quick-wittedness and creativity they put beating husbands and quarrelsome mother-in-laws in their place. And – if necessary – they go in as a riot squad to help a poor widow, who was thrown out of the house with her little daughter after the death of her husband, to regain her belongings.

In line with the vision of The Next Movement . . .
The U.S. justice system is inhumane and immoral, and can only be changed through the efforts of everyday people passionately working to educate and inform their communities. Core to our success is the conviction that America is committing an incredible injustice on entire populations of its own citizens, and that brought to light, average Americans will become allies in the fight for justice and human rights.
. . . the (In)Justice for All Film Festival (IFAFF) will bring to audiences films that explore our current criminal justice system – police, courts, and corrections – and the for-profit industries that feed at this trough of human misery. We will share the stories of the millions that are relegated to second-class citizenship under an unforgiving system.
We will show better ways that exist in other countries and even best practices right here in America. IFAFF will screen feature length documentaries, as well as topical shorts, with themes covering the following subjects:
-
The War on Drugs and its effect on individuals, families, and society
-
The science of addiction
-
The politicization of crime and punishment
-
Global alternatives to imprisonment
-
Incarceration’s impacts on men, women, and children (inside and out)
-
Restorative Justice – Restoring Community Health
-
Good Cop/Bad Cop – Discretionary Police Power
-
History of Incarceration
-
Mental Health in America
-
Immigration
-
The Gang Alternative
-
Prison Reform Movements
-
Politically Motivated Imprisonment
-
Prison Profiteers – The corporations that profit from prison growth
The power of film to educate and influence, to inspire and engage, and to ultimately exponentially grow the numbers of active allies in the fight to end the embarrassing injustice that mass incarceration represents, is the catalyst for the (In)Justice for All Film Festival.
Gothenburg Independent Film Festival is a new upcoming festival for independent film makers arranged by the NGO Film För Fred (film for peace). The festival aspires to acknowledge and inform about the urgent social, environmental and political issues of the world. Using film to approach these questions in artistic and creative ways, we wish to create a common space where organisations, filmmakers and audience from different countries can meet to discuss and cooperate for future projects.
