The Philip K Dick festival will launch with the highly anticipated screening of Radio Free Albemuth (2010) on Friday, October 25.
Written and directed by John Alan Simon the film adaptation of Dick’s final novel stars Jonathan Scarfe (“Perception”), Shea Whigham (“Boardwalk Empire”), Katheryn Winnick (“Bones”) and Grammy Award-winning singer Alanis Morissette. A Q&A session with Simon is also scheduled to follow.

The Best Screenplay Award from CinemAvvenire Film Festival for Ron de Cana Productions' 2012 film "Found Objects" was received by director/writer Dawn Westlake yesterday in Los Angeles. In this alternate reality of the ‘50’s we follow a little girl “Iza” (Lisa Eernisse) who after a horrifying incident with her father, wakes up in the afterlife. Here she meets strange creatures of the night, who take her to a party of darkness hosted by “Rinse”.
Surrounded by terrifying creatures she feels utterly disrupted in her reality. Rinse notices this and shows her the alternate version of the party through the power of his music.
Now Iza is in a blissful place, meeting all the wonderful creatures she once feared. But the journey is far from over. Iza needs to get home and only Rinse can show her the way…
The Concept - Additional Information
The Acid Theatre is a unique concept evolving from a meeting between a director and a music artist. The video and the song are created simultaneously by an extraordinary joint venture of two professionals, both specialized in their game. Challenged by their ability to adapt to one another the project was put to a whole new level of creativity.
Another unique thing about this unique production is that it’s been fully financed by the artists. This gave them total creative freedom to apply the newest techniques in cinema production, like the custom developed E.D.I.© effect.

Principal photography on Ron de Cana Productions' 14th short film wrapped last week in Los Angeles. The new piece is called "Found Objects". It was shot with the generous support of Canon USA, Inc. on their C300 with a rig designed by cinematographer Shane Hurlbut ("Act of Valor").

Wow, it is really surprising just how many really, finely made horror films are out there right now. We are almost to the half-way point in our submission entries for 2012. The number of smart, well-made horror films is truly awe-inspiring!

The Charlotte Horror Fest is horror and sci-Fi film festival taking place every October in Charlotte, North Carolina. The event is
produced by Indie Film Force, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2005, which also produces the already established Charlotte Film Festival
The mission of the Charlotte Horror Fest is to bring filmmakers and film fans together for a celebration of the Horror and Sci-Fi genres. To create an event where the films can receive a quality projection that is on par with the dedication and perseverance that went into making them and fans can experience the works the way the filmmakers envisioned it. Along the way, we encourage fans to jump in and participate in whatever creative way feels right, so that the recipe will be complete and we’ll be able to fulfill what is the ultimate goal of the festival: to create and celebrate community.
