From the founder of Australia's two leading genre film festivals - A Night of Horror International Film Festival and Fantastic Planet, Sydney Sci-Fi and Fantasy Film Festival - comes a cinematic celebration of all things fantastic, frightening, underground, off-beat, alternative, and just plain weird... to the American Midwest!
The Midwest is filled with dark and mysterious byways, strange critters, and mythical beasties. And the great state of Wisconsin has more than its share: from the very real historical monsters Ed Gein and Jeffery Dahmer, to legendary cryptids like the Beast of Bray Road and the Hodag, to strange and wonderful places such as the Forevertron, a UFO landing port, and the mythical town of killer midgets known as Haunchyville.... It's the perfect territory for a festival that focuses on weird cinema from all around the world.
The festival team dreams of MidWest WeirdFest evoking the awe and chills of the sideshow alley of a dark carnival, a place filled with wonders, terrors, and forbidden surprises. The cinematic equivalent of a collection of pulp magazines and underground comix. A film festival that not only celebrates and showcases independent genre cinema - horror, sci-fi, fantasy, thriller - but one that welcomes all types of underground film. From experimental and avant-garde to offbeat documentaries. The festival's seasoned programmers can't wait to see what cinematic wonders await in MidWest WeirdFest's first season of festival submissions!
MidWest WeirdFest's main venue is the Micon Downtown Cinema, located in the welcoming college town of Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

Strangelove Filmfest is a yearly event in Antwerp where the public will be taken into the underbelly of cinema. ‘Strange’, ‘cult’, ‘weird’ and ‘gender’ are the terms used to define a story. The festival offers a very rich choice of movies, shorts, documentaries and classics from Queer Cinema. A treat for the movie lover!
First and foremost a film festival, Strangelove does also offer a tasty platter of music, performance and visual art. Mark is running from a past plagued by disturbing schizophrenic episodes… three women who each hold a different key to his freedom from torment… and a dark and mysterious being who threatens his entire reality, and worst yet – all the people in it. Mark mistakenly imagines that his release from a mental hospital represents a fresh start. He soon discovers, instead, that his struggles with schizophrenia are about to get much, much worse. As his mind spirals out of control, Mark suspects his sexy roommate and his best friend of conspiring to have him re-committed, and begins to insist that his condition is a result of an implant that puts him in communication with a sinister extraterrestrial race. The one person who can save him from losing the battle against his mental illness is Abby – a beautiful psychologist with a few demons of her own. But when Mark’s mysterious tormentor offers him a murderous solution to all his problems, can Abby stop him from succumbing to what may only be a terrifying figment of his imagination… before it’s too late?

International horror/sci-fi/weird/cult film festival was launched in 2005 on 100th anniversary of Slovenian cinematography in Ljutomer. This picturesque town in the middle of wine-growing region of Prlekija is where the first Slovenian motion pictures were made by the hand of Dr. Karol Grossmann. Festival featured a selection of unconventional movies and brought to Ljutomer most of their authors, which was something quite uncommon for Slovenian conditions. This tradition was carried on successfully with an indispensable addition of wine, the pride and joy of Prlekija region, opening completely new horizons of gastronomical pleasures to all our guests and visitors. Since November 2010, Grossmann festival is an Adherent member of the Méliès International Festivals Federation, the largest network of genre film festivals in the world, with members in 16 countries and with a joint audience of around 600 000 people.
