The Vampire Film Festival (Vampire Fest) is finally coming home! "After two years in Los Angeles we wanted to permanently move the festival to the city most connected to the vampire myth - New Orleans. This glorious city is a place of mystical allure, the city where Anne Rice rethought the myth of the vampire. With its Gothic architecture, above the ground graves, voodoo and colorful history, New Orleans is the perfect location to celebrate the vampire myth and build the foundation fo...
Director: Tim Meara.
On the ribs of the oldest surviving Cello made around fifteen thirty eight its maker inscribed the words “Justice” and “Piety”, yet beneath its civilized surface the world of rare string instruments is a realm of undisclosed alliances, fierce rivalries and denigrating whispers; it’s history of fraud and fakery dates almost to the inception of the violin itself…
The title of the documentary is inspired by the most perfectly preserved Stradivari violin in existence: The Messiah, which is displayed in a glass case at Oxford’s Ashmolean Museum and was donated with the condition that it must never be played again.
This film explores a rare and exclusive world. Owning one of Stradivari’s instruments now equates to great power and influence in the Music World. These instruments are so valuable that they are well beyond the capability of even the most famous musicians to own. Yet they have the unique capacity to produce sound so intensely beautiful and powerful that 350 years after their creation they remain one of the only objects in our cultural history to be unrivalled by anything modern technology and science can produce.
What right, if any, will musicians have to play these unique instruments in the future? The film follows the Brit award winning violinist Ruth Palmer as she circumnavigates the globe in search of an instrument to play, and we hear the magic of Stradivari in the hands of the world’s greatest musicians including: Joshua Bell, James Ehnes, Heinrich Schiff, Natalie Clein and Steven Isserlis.

This was my first year covering the LA Film Festival. I first remember going to some screenings in past years when it was held at the Sunset 5 in Hollywood, and later some parties and mixers in Westwood and at the W Hotel. After Cannes, June is also a busy month for film festivals around the world. This year, there was a greater focus on international film at the Festival. I spoke with new Executive Program Director Rebecca Yeldham at the award brunch, and shared how we enjoyed meeting many o...

When
you first meet Martinez, you would never guess under his sly smile he
is one of the most authentic talented character actors coming up in
Hollywood. I met him in an
acting class by accident. I was there to meet Randy Becker, a cool,
brilliant acting coach in Hollywood that I had been doing business with.
Although my attention was on Randy, a distinct whiskey sounding voice

A remote mental institution next to the Russian border was shut down by the police in the early 70´s. Dr. Andersson made series of snuff films using his patients. The Doctor filmed all the murders in 8mm and started to call himself the Auteur.
30 years later a small American film crew has arrived to Finland to shoot a horror movie about the massacre. The movie’s director, Steven, is engaged in his first feature with his DoP Darius and gaffer Mike from LA. The leading actress is a Finnish rising star Lisa, who’s dreaming about Hollywood. Dr. Andersson is played by a famous B-movie actor with a big ego.
Everything is going according to plan until two Finnish sound guys discover something evil hidden in the basement: the original snuff films shot by the Auteur.
Steven is stimulated by the raw and brutal snuff film material and starts to rewrite the script. The scenes are not real enough. Everything changes when he finds The Auteur’s 8mm film camera. Now he is ready to shoot his masterpiece, the film for which he will be remembered.
Soon the crew realizes that they are the stars of the film. Instead of making a horror film, they are in one. The Auteur is slaying the Skeleton Crew one by one. There´s no sequel for you!

Writer/Director/Producer Rosemary Edelman’s film lineage dates back to Hollywood’s Golden Age. Her father, Louis F. In addition, he wrote The Big ...
This morning I decided to look out the drapes and check my watch when I woke up. It was 5:30am and already getting light. Any further north and I suspect it would be the gloaming, when the darkest part of night remains twilight.
Breakfast was again superb, this time with an added sausage. Chris need to run an errand, so he dropped me off at Sorbie Tower to wander around. It was quiet except for the birds; it smelled of fresh rain and wild garlic (or onions - they both look the same to me)...

Cannes party on Yacht
Greetings from Cannes! It's another gorgeous day in Cannes and I will say that we had a glorious very long afternoon and evening yesterday starting with a sneak screening of a documentary called Great Directors. It's a great academic piece especially for an American and someone who has not been to film school. Angela Ismailos, highlights several directors that have influenced her and/or she loves there work. This was her first film as...

Finally a moment that wasn't perfect; I got off the bus one stop later than I wanted to and had to walk further to the Carlton. But if that's all that goes wrong, I figure I'm doing pretty good. It was perfect timing when I arrived to meet with one of the major studios about bringing US Box Office hits to Cambodia and they were able to see me right away.
I walked back to the Palais and met some more distributors (is that getting boring yet?). I ate lunch and met more distributors. I had a...
