Na procura de um futuro melhor na megacidade de Manila, Oscar Ramirez e sua família decidem deixar para trás sua vida nos campos de arroz do norte das Filipinas. Ao chegar na capital, são vítimas das malandragens dos locais, descobrindo o lado brutal da sobrevivência da cidade. Oscar consegue arrumar um emprego como motorista de uma empresa de transporte de valores e faz amizade com Ong, seu chefe. Em pouco tempo, torna-se evidente que Ong, vinha planejando a chegada de alguém como Oscar por algum tempo.

Seeking a brighter future in megacity Manila, Oscar Ramirez and his family flee their impoverished life in the rice fields of the northern Philippines. Upon arriving in the big city, they fall foul to various city inhabitants whose manipulative ways are a daily part of city survival. Oscar manages to land a job as a driver for an armored truck company and is befriended by Ong, his senior officer. Before long, it becomes apparent that Ong, has been planning the arrival of someone just like Oscar for sometime.

En busca de un futuro mejor en la megaciudad de Manila, Oscar Ramírez y su familia deciden dejar atrás su vida en los campos de arroz del norte de Filipinas. Al llegar a la capital, son víctimas de la viveza citadina, descubriendo el lado brutal de la supervivencia de la ciudad. Oscar se las arregla para conseguir un trabajo como conductor de un transporte de valores y se hace amigo de Ong, su jefe. Al poco tiempo, se hace evidente que Ong había estado planeando la llegada de alguien como Oscar hace bastante tiempo.

Academy Award– and BAFTA-nominated director Sean Ellis started taking pictures when he was 11 years old. At the age of 26, he became a sought-after fashion photographer before crossing over into film. After writing and directing three successful short films, Ellis expanded his Academy Award–winning short, Cashback, into the feature film of the same name. His psychological thriller The Broken premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2008. Metro Manila is Ellis’s third feature.
