THE GOETHE-INSTITUT IN MYANMAR

The cultural programme in Myanmar focuses on encounters between Burmese and German artists, presenting German contemporary culture and promoting German-Burmese cooperation in the cultural and intellectual domain. Among other things, the Goethe-Institut works closely together with the privately-founded Gitameit Music Center and the Yangon Film School, as well as with the French cultural institute in Yangon, which is currently providing a temporary home to the Goethe-Institut.

The Goethe-Institut in Yangon has been offering language courses and language testing since August 2013. Promoting the German language in Myanmar and training teachers in the German departments of the foreign language universities in Yangon and Mandalay is very important to the Goethe-Institut.
