9th East End Film Festival wrapped
With the 9th East End Film Festival coming to a close last weekend, we'd like to congratulate the award winners:
Best UK First Feature Award: SHED YOUR TEARS AND WALK AWAY (Jez Lewis)
Best Documentary Feature: PRESUMED GUILTY (Roberto Hernández / Geoffrey Smith)
Best Feature Soundtrack: Michael Nyman (ERASING DAVID)
Best International First Feature Award: FRANCESCA (Bobby Paunescu, Romania)
Best UK Short Award: WHORE (Fyzal Boulifa)
Short Film Audience Award: MY DAD THE COMMUNIST (Lab Ky Mo)
The Festival was the biggest EEFF to date, and audience figures were way up. Highlights included the premiere of Docklands documentary THE RIME OF THE MODERN MARINEER at St Anne's Limehouse with a live soundtrack, a celebration of Rock Against Racism with panels and live music, the UK premiere of SUS and the London premiere of TAQWACORE: THE BIRTH OF PUNK ISLAM, and an unforgettable visit by the great Russian director Alexey Balabanov to present his two recent masterpieces CARGO 200 and MORPHIA.
