IPA Launches "In the Running" Round-up of Feature Films & TV
The International Press Academy today announced that it has established "In the Running," a half-year short list of possible contenders for outstanding entertainment in motion pictures and television for the Satellite Awards®, to be released at the end of July.
Traditionally, many studio releases are bottlenecked for consideration nearing the close of each calendar year. Too often, what screens in February is often forgotten by December. IPA would like to shine a spotlight on notable projects throughout the year.
While last-minute awards campaigns are to be expected, the mid-year results will also call attention to outstanding performances and gripping storylines by the known's as well as the unknowns.
IPA's "In the Running" top choices for consideration will be factored into the Motion Picture and Television Nominations process leading up to the 15th Satellite Awards® to be held in Beverly Hills on December 19, 2010.
This year the 15th Satellite black tie celebration will be a re-imagined two-hour show streamlined into a celebrity event that truly allows equal consideration for the best the entertainment industry offers, regardless of budget or studio affiliation.
Additionally, with the maturation of the internet, the Satellite Awards will add two new categories for New Media to be announced closer to the show. As new media art forms transform entertainment, IPA strives to be part of the movement for progressive change.
The Satellite Awards® honor achievement in motion pictures, television, interactive media, DVD, and interactive/gaming environments. IPA is an entertainment media association with voting members worldwide who represent domestic and foreign markets via print, television, radio, blogs, and other content platforms for virtually every notable outlet.
