Atieh Attarzadeh, a talented Iranian female director, is presenting her recent documentary to the attention of film festival directors worldwide.

She says this film is a documentary about contemporary women poets and she interviewed almost 20 women poets. Some of them talk about their lives, their approaches to art and their notions about women and poetry in Iran while others just read their poems. There are also some Iranian reviewers (men and women) who work on this topic in Iran which she  interviewed as well.

The women poets were selected among many others and the reason for chosing them was her intention to depict an expansive and overall atmosphere of Iranian women poets and their effect on contemporary Iranian poetry.

This survey is chronological and starts with Forough- Farokhzad (died:1348), who was the pioneer of women modern poetesses in Iran,  and it culminates with female Iranian poets of 2010.

The film is digital (mini dv). For the cinematic aesthetics, Atieh has attempted to instill a sense of poetry in her own scenes and while editing the work in order to transmit the whole essence and atmosphere of these women.

The music in  the film is composed and performed by young Iranian musicians.

Atieh Attarzadeh from Iran called this documentary about contemporary Iranian women poets "Believe in…". Its about modern poetry in Iran among Iranian  women and their approaches to literature and the way female poetry  developed in Iran. Length is  38 min.
