Description text:“The electric light sometimes hides more information within the public space than itshows. The video work “STRiKE” 2009 shows a young man who does an accuraterebellious gesture against a public electrical light with a found stone and reveals thenight panorama of the picturesque port at the Greek island of Symi where the famousFluxus artist Daniel Spoerri lived and worked in the late ‘60s. I was inspired to do thework by a young man, who every year while visiting his country house in the island isattacking at the public light located in front of his balcony, breaking its lamp, in orderto enjoy the night view. In my video work STRiKE I represent his romantic butviolent gesture - act, which seems almost instinctive, against the contemporary humancivilization and the conscious ecological destruction humans have created onlandscape through it. The work is a comment on the idea of juxtaposition incontemporary art and the social discussion about the defensive psychologicalmechanisms of human against its mechanical creations and their use on everydaylife”.
