2009 Panel Directory

An abundance of panel discussions from various perspectives of the film industry are scheduled for the 2009 festival.  

 May 15- American Pavilion will host a discussion with Francis Ford Coppola, 5:30-7pm

May 16- Short Film Corner to host a conference entitled 'Focus on Scandinavian Short Film Industry', 4pm 

 May 17- American Pavilion will host a discussion with American directors in Cannes with panelists: Lynn Shelton ("Humpday"), Lee Daniels ("Precious"), Josh and Benny Safdie ("Go Get Some Rosemary"), 10-11:30am

 May 17- American Pavilion will host "Meet the New Sundance", a talk with John Cooper, Festival Director and Trevor Groth, Program Director, 3-4:30pm

 May 17- American Pavilion to host "Fan Nation", discussion on the 'fan-word' network of websites, fests, and events that influence the success of a film with panelists: Tim League (Fantastic Fest), Tom Quinn (Magnolia Pictures), Todd Brown (Twitchfilm.com), Jon Fougner (Facebook), Sacha Gervais ("Anvil! The Story of Anvil"), 5-6:30pm

May 18- American Pavilion to host a discussion on surviving the recession in the filmmaking industry with panelists Agnes Mentre (Wild Bunch), Jeb Brody (Vendrome), Roeg Sutherland (CAA), Stuart Ford (IM Global), Ben Browning (Wayfare), Joe Drake (Lionsgate), Glen Basner (FilmNation), 12:30-2pm

May 18- Short Film Corner Conference: A case leveraging P2P networks: Steal the film & VODO, 4pm 

May 18- American Pavilion hosts panel on 'new media' with panelists: Sharon Waxman (The Wrap), Anne Thompson (ThompsonOnHollywood), Karina Longworth (SpoutBlog), James Rocchi (MSN Movies/AMCtv.com), John Horn (LA Times), 5:30-7pm 

 May 19- American Pavilion to host a discussion with doc filmmakers on the increasingly prominent role of their profession, panelists: Anne Aghion ("My Neighbor, My Killer") David Fenkel (Oscilloscope Laboratories), Richard Lorber (Lorber Media), 10:30-12pm

 May 19- American Pavilion to host discussion entitled "Up with Indie Releasing" with Randy Miler (Consolidated Picture Group), Chris Hyams (B-Side), Howard Cohen (Roadside Attractions), 12:30-2pm 

May 19- Short Film Corner Conference: Why should editors work on short films? Conference Area, 4pm

May 20- American Pavilion to host discussion on new platforms for filmmakers with panelists: Lies Copland (Endeavor), Mark Lipsky (Gigantic"), Efe Cakarel (Founder and CEA, The Auteurs), John Sloss (Cinetic), Lisa Schwartz (IFC Entertainment), 10:20am-12pm
