Athens - Istanbul is the new feature film by Nikos Panayotopoulos.
It is a road movie that starts in a traffic jam! The hero of the film, a depressive lawyer, after his recent divorce sets off a journey in his car with a vague pretext on visiting his sick father in Thessaloniki. His trip looks more like a runaway. Events on the National Road and the key meeting with a young wandering lady force him to play a key role in this adventure, revealing himself to his middle age crisis and which will culminate, after many stops and detours, in Istanbul...

Life, death, sex and money, identity, all questions the hero will have to face. The narration is the one of an oniric and philosophical tale “there is no border in the other world because you don’t need borders when you can’t move..” with humoristic touches, burlesque police musical during the strike makes the public laughs.
Music takes a good part in the movie. Traditional clarinet with nostalgic accents to jazz from the oldies, Sonny Boy Williamson and Muddy Waters gives us a very pleasant soundtrack.
