This week’s Cannes report is on the Cannes Soundtrack & Sound Creation Awards
The festival also highlights the best original compositions and overall sound design through two specific juries:

The Cannes Soundtrack Award: Selected by a jury of international journalists to honor the best composer in the official selection.
The 2026 Cannes Soundtrack Award was won by composers Evgueni and Sacha Galperine for their work on the film Minotaur.

Un Certain Regard Best Sound Creation: Chaired in 2026 by director Vincent Maël Cardona, this award recognizes the director and sound designer for how the film's audio enhances its narrative.
The 2026 Best Sound Creation Award in the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival was awarded to the film Elephants in the Fog (Tiniharu), directed by Nepalese filmmaker Abinash Bikram Shah.
The Un Certain Regard Jury this year is composed of:
- Jury President: Leïla Bekhti (French actress)
- Angèle Diabang (Senegalese producer and director)
- Thomas Cailley (French writer and director)
- Laura Samani (Italian writer and director)
- Khaled Mouzanar (Lebanese composer and producer)

We will also hear selections by composer Khaled Mouzanar. Sound design for jury prize winner Capernaum from the 2018 film Cannes Film Festival, directed by Nadine Labaki.
Birgitte Bardot: Plage Brigitte Bardot :
Brigitte Bardot was honored in a ceremony on May 18 led by the Maire of Cannes, David Lisnard. He unveiled a plaque on Macé Beach in honor of Brigitte Bardot, now called Plage Brigitte Bardot. This beach was where she first debuted at Cannes, April 1953. Photo © Ece Torres
Brigitte Bardot wrote in "Tears of Battle: An Animal Rights Memoir" in Saint-Tropez November 2018 : "I want to reexamine the purpose of my battle and remind us once again, of the animal's rightful place in the world".

In a Central American country called San Miguel at the beginning of the 20th century, Maria I and Maria II meet, forming a theatrical duo before embarking on a revolutionary struggle, starring Jeanne Moreau and Brigitte Bardot.
Screening in the presence of Nicolas Seydoux, President of Gaumont.
This screening is co-organized with the City of Cannes, whose mayor David Lisnard will unveil a plaque on Macé Beach in honor of Brigitte Bardot.
