International Scientific Film Festival in Szolnok

The International Scientific Film Festival in Szolnok (8-11 October 2015) provides forum for such distinct films which can somehow, in some way be connected to science: are about some scientific result or work, or in their action, language and presentation give place to science.

We expect films to the Festival in the following subjects:

→ Scientific educational films, which deal with science related questions in a new creative way.

→ Documentaries and portraits about science, scientific discoveries.

→ Short and long features, which give science or scientific activities an important part in the action of the film.

→ Experimental films, which use the results of science and technique, in order to renew the moving picture expression.

→ Films dealing with the relationship of science and fake science.

→ Mock documentaries, which introduce nonexistent scientific innovations as if they were existing.

→ Documentaries dealing with the protection of nature and environment.

Entry Regulations

There is no entry fee

1. General information

You can enter films produced after 1 January 2012. One filmmaker – the director or the editor – may enter not more than two films. The preview jury decides which category the films will be screened in. The organizers will provide free accommodation for one representative of each film selected for the competition by the preview jury.

2. Entry form

You can register to the International Scientific Film Festival 2015 by filling in an online application form. The entry form can be found under the label "Entry form". You can start to fill in the entry form after the registration process. If you enter two films, please use a separate entry form for each work. After finishing the application form, please sign it and send it to the festival's address with the following materials:

→ DVD copy of the film sent to the pre-selection (or an online link for download)

→ The dialogue list or narrated text of the film in English (compulsory to send if the film is accepted for screening!)

→ The materials mentioned above (printed application form, the film and the script) must arrive at the Festival's address by 20 May 2015. In case the DVD or the materials in question arrive late the entry cannot be accepted.

3. Information on the film copies

We can accept films on DVD or as a preview download link for preselection in a format that can be copied for the preview jury. The preview tapes will remain in the Festival archives; we will not return them. The organizers are not able to pay any rental or screening fee.

The original prints selected for screening must be available for the Festival from 5-15 October 2015, or after previous agreement, they can be delivered to the Festival by a representative of the film.

The films must be sent prepaid. We are not prepared to pay any customs charges or cover the costs of reshipment of any films that arrive late for screening.

Due to negative shipment experiences, we can accept 16mm and 35mm films for screening only under reasonable circumstances, or if they are personally delivered for the Festival.

If the print is damaged during transportation hindering its screening, we will report it to the filmmaker within one week in the hope of a possible replacement. We can screen the films from DVD, MINI DV, Blue Ray, DCP or 35 mm. Specifications for online download links: DCP 2K definition; mkv in HD or Full HD quality; avi for lower definition.
