À propos

Hungarian nature film makers and their “school” became well recognized on an international level by the 1960s and 1970s. Based on these traditions, high quality films have been produced continuously in the field of nature, hunting, fishing and nature conservation in both the documentary- and feature-film categories.Hungarian nature filmmakers and their “school” became well recognized at an international level by the 1960s and 1970s.

Based on these traditions, high-quality films have been produced continuously in the field of nature, hunting, fishing and nature conservation in both the documentary- and feature-film categories.

With the advancement of commercial TV channels it is very difficult for the new generation of nature filmmakers to be recognized and acknowledged. The thematic channels specializing in nature films are viable and useful, but as we see they lack the freshness of presenting the palpable, non-global, direct relationship between nature and people.

Over the last two to three years a new demand has arisen from both the public and from different educational structures for nature films representing Europe, Hungary and its countryside and natural qualities from a new approach. To meet this demand several European studios (both professional and amateur) have been producing high-quality films. To make these films become better known to a wider audience is both a goal described by the European Union and public demand. The above-mentioned trend can be observed in Hungary as well, which has triggered the production of some internationally recognized films in the last couple of years.

The main goal of a filmmaker besides the creation of a concept and movie is to reach as many people with the message of the film as possible. In Hungary roughly a dozen studios are producing world-class films every year, though they then face the problem that the film and the message do not reach their main target groups: children, youth and nature-loving people (the same situation can be observed all over Europe).

The Hungarian scientific and nature filmmakers, the Hungarian Scientific Film Association, the Council of the town of Gödöllő, the CARPLOVE International Nonprofit Kft. and the Centre for Farm Animal Gene Conservation have agreed to organize an International Nature Film Festival in Gödöllő in May 2015.

The Festival plans to offer an opportunity for nature filmmakers to present their work to a wider public and for the films to be evaluated. A good opportunity will be offered to the highest quality, prize-winning films and their creators to get recognized on an international level. With world-class films and good marketing, the festival could become one of Europe’s most prestigious nature film festivals.
