REGULATIONS

1.        OBJECTIVE

The 4th BARCELONA INTERNATIONAL AUTEUR FILM FESTIVAL – D'A 2014¸ organized by NOUCINEMART, will screen an international panorama of the finest contemporary auteur cinema, combining the discovery of emerging new talents and cinematographies with internationally established directors. The 4th BARCELONA INTERNATIONAL AUTEUR FILM FESTIVAL – D'A will run from April 25^th to May 4^nd.

2.        SECTIONS

Structured into different sections, the Festival will screen around 65 films (feature and documentary films):

TALENTS: works from emerging new directors.

DIRECTIONS: an international panorama of the finest contemporary auteur cinema.

RETROSPECTIVE

3.        AWARDS

3.1.      NEW TALENT AWARD: non-cash award granted by the Catalan Critics Association from all the directors with up to 3 features.

3.2.      AUDIENCE AWARD: non-cash award from the audience votes from among the films screened in all sections.

4.        SUBMISSION

To submit a film to the Festival, directors and/or producers are requested to send, before January 31th 2014, one screener of the film, either on DVD/Blu-Ray or a digital file.

In the case of DIRECTIONS and TALENTS sections, to be eligible the films must have been produced within 18 months prior to the beginning of the Festival.

In any case, all films selected (except the Retrospective) must meet the following requirements:

- Non-exhibited in the Spanish territory within 90 days prior to their screening at D’A.

- Non-exhibited in any online platform before their screening at D’A.

All submissions, documentation materials and videos will be sent prepaid and none of them be returned to its sender unless specifically mentioned and, in this case, the participant will cover the shipment costs.

5.        FILMS PARTICIPATING IN THE FESTIVAL

Once a film is selected and has accepted to partipate in the Festival, it cannot be withdrawn from the program. The representatives of the films must send all the materials required for publication in the Festival information and promotion tools: technical and artistic credits, hi-resolution pictures of the film and the director and trailer in a digital file.

Films will be screened in 35mm or professional digital format (DCP, HDCAM or Digibeta). Under no circumstances will films in DVD format be accepted and only Blu-Ray will be accepted if it's the only print available.

All selected films will be screened in their original version with Catalan or Spanish subtitles. In the case the film does not include any Spanish or Catalan subtitles, the film representatives will be asked to provide a subtitle list and a DVD or permanent link with the same cut as the screening print, in order to make the electronic subtitles.

The Festival will cover inbound shipment of the print and will be responsible for the customs clearance in Spain when needed. The Festival will cover the outbound shipping unless the print is shared with another festival. In this case, the next festival screening the film will cover this shipment.

In case of damage to or loss of a film during the Festival, the Festival's management is only responsible for the costs involved in making a new print or replacing the damaged reel(s), based on the current laboratory rates for ordering a standard print.

The Festival will recognize the signatory of the application form as contact for the negotiation of all aspects related to the participation of the film in the festival, and as the only person responsible ahead of any companies or persons who may have taken part in the production of the film. In case of disagreements concerning the interpretation of these regulations, the Spanish text will be applied.
