Costa Gavras’ ”Last Breath” at the Los Angeles Greek Film Festival

Acclaimed director Costa Gavras’ latest film “Last Breath” premiered during the 19th edition of the Los Angeles Greek Film Festival where he received the Lifetime Achievement Honorary Orpheus Awards following the screening of his 1970 feature “Z” about the real life story of the assassination of Grigoris Lambrakis. The film won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film and Best Editing, as well as the Cannes Film Festival Jury Prize and Best Actor Award.

A master at powerful and controversial storytelling, the multi-awards-winner director does not shy away from complex social themes. Starring Charlotte Rampling and Hiam Abbass, and inspired by the book from philosopher Régis Debray and doctor Claude Grange, “Last Breath” is an emotional and courageous insight into the lives of people in palliative care units, and their right for a dignified death,

The screening was followed by a conversation with Oscar, Golden Globe and Emmy awards winner Oliver Stone.
