6th Annual Urban Film Festival kicks off today
6th Annual Urban Film Festival Partners with Black-Owned platform Urban DigitalStreaming; Announces Festival Dates | Sept. 3rd - Sept. 5th 2021
Urban Film Festival (UFF) has announced a budding partnership with Urban Digital Streaming (UDS.tv), a Black-owned streaming platform, for their upcoming 2021 festival. The partnership will allow them to virtually screen over 100 films, educational workshops, and live call-ins with industry professionals for free this Labor Day weekend.
In addition to the aforementioned, the highly anticipated festival will provide access to panel discussions, networking opportunities, and masterclasses by industry professionals sharing gems on the process of filmmaking from start to finish. The annual event takes place Labor Day weekend in Miami's Historic Overtown, however, due to COVID-19, Urban Film Festival has decided to include a new digital streaming component to this year’s programming along with social distancing.
The main events will take place at The Black Archives Historic Lyric Theater located at 819 NW 2nd Ave, Miami, FL 3313. Along with other nearby venues such as The Dorsey Memorial Library located at 100 NW 17th St, Miami, FL 33136 and the Overtown Performing Arts Center (OPAC) 1074 NW 3rd Ave, Miami, FL 33136, screening films and conducting workshops.
Notable celebrities, influencers, and participants include festival ambassadors Percy “Master P” Miller, Romeo Miller, Rap Snacks’ CEO James Lindsay, etc."We are committed to pushing the culture forward one film at a time by providing filmmakers the tools and skills they need to thrive in this ever-changing industry," said Marco (Mall) Molinet, co-founder of Florida Film House.
The Urban Film Festival website, where attendees will also be able to access the Urban Digital Streaming along with in-person screenings. Festival-goers will be able to gain unlimited, free access to curated filmmaker’s content along with educational tools that can be screened.
The festival is possible with support from the City of Miami District 5 Commissioner Jeffrey Watson, The Southeast Overtown Park West Community Redevelopment Agency, Simkins Family Foundation, The Greater Miami Convention Visitors Bureau, OMNI, CRA, Hampton Art Lovers, Black Archives, Commissioner Keon Hardemon, and Florida Film House.
