Documentary film people spent decades fighting for recognition as part of cinema, and of art in general. Today, as more documentary works are acknowledged in non-specialized platforms, is a “documentary community” with specialized events and platforms still needed? Does it alienate documentary artists from others? Or can it add value without ghettoizing the form and its makers? We will try to tackle these questions, to examine the reality of documentary filmmaking and business today, and to try and imagine the future together, festivals and filmmakers.
