Werner Vogels Opening Keynote at AWS Summit NY 2019

The Amazon Web Services Summit New York 2019 (AWSSNY19) Opening Keynote Presentation with Dr. Werner Vogels, chief technology officer, Amazon, commenced Thursday, July 11, 9AM at Javits Convention Center. Amazon’s legendary keynote presentation by Vogels was par excellence. Launch announcements included Eventbridge, a serverless microservice; Cloud Development Kit (CDK), an infrastructure as code that automates the deployment for serverless applications; Sagemaker Managed Spot Training to optimize the cost of machine learning; and Lake Formation, to build fast data lakes (move, store, catalog & clean data). Vogels discussed the ledger database Amazon Managed Blockchain, data breaches, cloud security, Amazon security automation tools such as Inspector, a continuous automated cloud security assessment service for EC2 instances; CloudTrail and advised to Encrypt Everything!

This year’s opening keynote guest speakers were EVP & CIO Steve Randich, FINRA, discussed their use of The Flywheel; CTO Andy Fang, DOORDASH, talked about the successful use of Aurora database system. Senior Director of Engineering Justin Fox, Nudata Security, discussed the use of Sagemaker for their machine learning workloads to eliminate credit card fraud.
