Beach Night Screening of Boyz n the Hood

It was a huge night at the outdoor cinema on the Croisette beach last night as audience members found their seats with eager anticipation to see a screening of the 1991 shmash hit, "Boyz n the Hood" directed by John Singleton. Singleton, at the time of filming "Boyz n the Hood," was just 23 years old and had been working on the script for it in college before it grabbed a lot of attention. The film garnered much attention when it was featured in Cannes' "Un Certain Regard," and French critics and audiences raved with positive reviews. Just a couple of weeks ago, Singleton passed away, and his film is once again in Cannes. Bruno Chatelin and filmmaker/John Singleton's daugter, Justice Singleton, presented the audience with the same visceral experience seen here in Cannes 28 years ago.
