AWARDS ARTEKINO Festival : 24 weeks by Anne Zohra Berrached

The 2018 ArteKino Festival Audience Prize is awarded to the film 24 Wochen (24 Weeks) by German director Anne Zohra Berrached (Production Zero One / International Sales BETA CINEMA).

The European Digital Film Festival organised by ARTE and Festival Scope took place from 1 to 31 December 2018. Since 2016, the festival has promoted feature films to a large audience, representing the eclecticism and boldness of new European productions, with a program composed of films selected from the most prestigious international festivals. For its third edition, the ArteKino Festival was supported by Creative Europe, the European Union's Media program.

The €30,000 audience award, sponsored by the ARTEKINO Foundation with the support of GOOGLE, was awarded by film lovers from 45 European countries.

The winning film will be available throughout January on arte.tv and artekinofestival.com. It launches the "Film of the Month" programming, a new initiative started in 2019 that will program a feature or short film each month for free. 

ARTE is delighted that the audience has lauded this bold and moving film by a talented young director and is delighted that the channel's committee of the French-German Grand Accord has also decided to support the next feature of the director.

Astrid, a 6-month pregnant cabaret comedian, learns that her baby is disabled. Supported by her husband Markus, the young woman must make a decision but has very little time to do it. Lost, upset, Astrid is no longer able to act.

Anne Zohra Berrached
 

After studying education and psychology, Anne Zohra Berrached trained at the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy. She directed a short film Saint & Whore, and a first feature film Two Mothers. After 24 Weeks, presented in competition at the Berlinale in 2016, where he received the Guild Prize for German arthouse cinemas, she is currently shooting her third feature, The Woman of the Pilot, in co-production with ARTE.
