BRIDGE of ARTS 2018 announced the main competition program
IV International Motivational Film and Sport Festival BRIDGE of ARTS announced feature film competition program which comprises only works directed in 2018. Filmmakers from 13 countries will compete for the main prize.
One of the major film events in Russia International Motivational Film and Sport Festival BRIDGE of ARTS will take place in Rostov-on-Don in October, 10-14. The main competition program includes 10 new films from Russia and abroad most of which will be premiered in Russia. They were produced in Italy, France, Germany, Finland, Portugal, Uzbekistan and Russia. The first was produced by Kenya and Germany, the second by Iceland, Belgium and Sweden and the third by Belorussia, Germany, USA and Russia.
It has become a tradition that BRIDGE of ARTS competition program is made up of films reflecting the festival’s main message. All of them teach us to look at the world through the lens of kindness and love.
“Festival films generally differ much from movies that shown on TV. They are unusual, not always entertaining but necessarily making viewers reflect upon the story, feel the vibes of other countries’ cultures and discover new forms of film-expression. This year festival films are represented by traditional comedies from Italy and France, foreign custom films and debut films. Diverse film characters force the audience to speculate about their actions and motivating factors and focus upon the idea that even during the toughest time may be a passage to a bright and new future,” – Elena Larionova, BRIDGE of ARTS program director said.
Apart from the main competition program BRIDGE of ARTS will include non competition short films, event films and short film nights. Overall there will be 80 films from 30 countries, including special screenings of Indian, Italian and Russian films. The screening will take place in the festival city venues. Moreover, films related to sports are dedicated to the 2018 year as the year of children’s sport in Rostov region. Family and children’s film are an integral part of the festivals’ program as well.

50-year old Saidulla, a former captain of the Soviet Army, served in Afghanistan. He lives alone in a small untidy house in the former fishing village. He works as a teacher at a local high school. The school doctor directs Saidullo to the regional medical center for examination.
The doctor states that Saidulla has cancer. The countdown begins in Saidullos’s life.

The story is set in Armenia in the 90s. In a mountain village Saro, his mother Anait and granddad Karen are waiting for Saro's dad, Vacho, return from the war. Absence of the head of the family turnes Saro into a real man with a multitude of chores. Taking care of the apricot tree planted by Vacho is a special duty. Every single day Saro asks the star to bring his father back and one day his cherished dream comes true. Back home Vacho meets his grown-up son and Saro seems to have completely forgotten his father. Father-son interaction becomes strained. Saro's grandfather decides to lure the boy into a tough situation which makes all his fears revive. Saro gets through the hard patch by sacrificing a very dear thing…
