Got an early an early start to LIDO island (Venice film festival location), with Director Cheng from “JOSE” headquarters at Rialto bridge (see photo on the “bus boat” - “vaporetto”) and screened 4 features. It was “Mexico day” with Alfonso Cuarón’s in-competion “ROMA” - since we’ve lived in Mexico City for years its an interesting perspective (sent in 1960s), and we did “JOSE” post-production in Mexico City. CDMX, as it’s now know, has become a strong “Hollywood on Reforma” with so many highly skilled film-artists. Perhaps the more moving however, was the packed house for the restored presentation of Arturo Ripstein’s Hell Without Limits (1978) with it’s probing inquiry into Mexican machismo (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0076336/) - back story is that Luis Bunuel held the script with the intention to shoot it but never did, and then the project passed to Ripstein
