Marco Mueller will run The new Macao International Film Festival

Marco Mueller, the former head of the Locarno, Venice and Rome film festivals, (recently consulting for this year’s Beijing International Film Festival, and the Silk Road International Film Festival) has been appointed director of the inaugural Macau International Film Festival (Dec 8-13).

Hosted by the government of Macau and the Macau Film & Television Productions and Culture Association, the new festival will be held at the Macau Cultural Centre, the Macau Science Centre and  in Macau’s high-end multiplexes and casinos.

Lorna Tee will run the programming.

Macau has previously hosted smaller film festivals, but this new event aims to a larger role in the festival circuit, with a significant budget (reported to be near 8M$).
