27th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Opens With “The Fencer”

From the film The Fencer director Klaus Härö attended the Opening Night screening.

From Palm Springs favorite Klaus Härö (Letters to Father JacobMother of Mine), here’s a movie with a bit of everything: a thriller/love story/inspirational teacher tale based on a true Cold War episode, about an Estonian fencing champ on the run from the Soviet secret police. It is a film that manages to find optimism, humanity and beauty in a tragic historical era. The film is the Foreign Language Oscar submission from Finland.
