Dubai Film and TV Commission @ AFM
Dubai Film and TV Commission, and Dubai Studio City held a stand at AFM this year.
Jamal Al Sharif, Chairman of Dubai Film and TV Commission and Managing Director of Dubai Studio City, was in attendance. Jamal Al Sharif is the Chairman of the Dubai Film and TV Commission (DFTC). In his current role, Al Sharif partners with Government of Dubai and private entities to increase media production in Dubai by developing filming incentives, nurturing growth of the local media talent pool, and marketing the emirate to regional and international producers.
Al Sharif has devoted his entire career to establishing Dubai as a global leader in media and technology and continues to do so in his current role with DFTC, leading the efforts to establish Dubai and as a filming destination for local, regional and international film, TV and commercial productions. Al Sharif is highly regarded in the industry for his project management expertise, performance-driven experience as a media industry and real estate specialist, and for his ability to generate business in fiercely competitive markets. Al Sharif was instrumental in bringing Mission Impossible 4: Ghost Protocol to Dubai, which not only brought extensive media coverage to the emirate, but also led to an increase in film productions from various countries. Al Sharif is also the Managing Director of Dubai Studio City, part of the Media Cluster at TECOM Investments, a member of Dubai Holding.
While in attendance at AFM, Jamal discussed the latest huge Hollywood and Bollywood productions that were filmed in Dubai, including Star Trek Beyond, and Kong Fu Yoga for Jackie Shan.
About Dubai Film and TV Commission: The Dubai Film and TV Commission (DFTC) was created in May 2012 by Executive Decree #16 of Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of the Executive Council, which was amended to Decree #50 in 2014.
