TimesTalks Presents: Pixar’s “Inside Out”

Today at the American Pavilion at 10AM, some of the cast of Pixar’s newest film “Inside Out” came to talk about the film. The program began with a showing of the preview for the film, which is about the mind of a little girl, and the feelings, joy, sadness, anger, fear and disgust, which control it.

In attendance today was Pete Docter, Jonas Rivera, Amy Poehler, Mindy Kaling, Lewis Black and Phyllis Smith. They talked a lot about how the main character of the film, Riley, is unique in that she is just an average eleven year old girl. Usually movies like to portray princesses or extremely beautiful women.

Poehler commented about the age of the character saying it is “a wonderful age.” Kaling described the main character as “a girl who is trying to be happy.” Smith, who played Sadness, remarked on how her character made her feel, saying, “it made me think about my own life as a child, the emotions I had as a child.”
