Films for May 15th- Day 2

The following is a list of films featured in the Non-Competition Categories: Un Certain Regard, La Quinzaine des Realisateurs, and Semaine de la Critique. 

Un Certain Regard

Party Girl: Angelique is a 60-year-old bar hostess. She still likes to party, she still likes men. At night, she makes them drink, in a cabaret by the French-German border. As time goes by, clients become rare. But Michel, her regular client, is still in love with her. One day, he asks Angelique to marry him.

Loin de mon pere: Moshe and Tami are a couple, Moshe is in his fifties and Tami is in her early twenties. They live together in a cruel and violent relationship, from which Tami seems unable to set herself free. Tami and Moshe are father and daughter

La Quinzaine des Realisateurs 

Bande de Filles: Oppressed by her family setting, dead-end school prospects and the boys law in the neighborhood, Marieme starts a new life after meeting a group of 3 free-spirited girls. She changes her name, her dress code, and quits school to be accepted in the gang, hoping that this will be a way to freedom.



Le Chant du Styrene: A 1958, 13 minutes French documentary film directed by Alain Resnais. The film was an order by French industrial group Pechiney to highlight the merits of plastics. The commentary, narrated by Pierre Dux, was written by Raymond Queneau, all in alexandrines.

Semaine de La Critique

Fla, or Faire: L'amour: Carrénard wrote Faire L'Amour before he made his first film, Donoma, and says that it'll explore similar themes as that first film, which revolved around the dynamics of several, interconnected Paris couples. And also like Donoma, Faire L’Amour's cast comprises of mostly amateur, first-time actors, which Carrénard selected from acting workshops he conducted earlier 3 years ago.

Piu Buio Di Mezzanotte: Davide is different from the other teenagers. Something makes him look like a girl. Davide is fourteen when he runs away from home. His intuition leads him to choose Villa Bellini, a park in Catania, as a refuge. The park is a world in itself, a world of the marginalized, to which the rest of the city turns a blind eye. But one day the past catches up and Davide has to face the most difficult choice, this time alone.
