News: Berlinale Screening Edward Snowden – Das Interview
The Berlinale is presenting Edward Snowden – Das Interview (dir: Hubert Seipel) in a special screening at CinemaxX 5, at 10.00 pm on February 10, 2014. In his first TV interview since fleeing to Russia, former NSA contractor Edward Snowden talked about his spectacular disclosures and his motives. After months of preparation, German journalist and filmmaker Hubert Seipel met history’s most famous whistleblower at an unknown location in Russia, where he is at the moment in exile. After the screening, there will be a Q & A session. Press tickets are available at the Press Ticket Counter in the Grand Hyatt Hotel.
Berlinale Special Surprise: House of Cards
The press screening of Episodes 1 and 2 of the second season of House of Cards will take place on February 15th at 6.30 p.m. at CinemaxX 9.

Press breakfast at the Audi Berlinale Lounge
Start the day right: daily from 8.00 to 9.30 a.m. starting on February 7th, accredited journalists (red badge) are invited to the newly constructed Audi Berlinale Lounge for coffee/tea and croissants before press screenings begin at the Berlinale Palast. Access according to availability (88 Seats, 120 PAX).
As of 10.30 am, the Audi Berlinale Lounge is open only to accredited press representatives who have registered with Audi. Please send your requests to: david.schommer@audi.de.

Healthy snacks on the go
At the 64th Berlinale you’ll find delicious, healthy food for the busy schedule: In cooperation with Markthalle Neun and Slow Food Berlin, six food trucks stationed in Joseph-von-Eichendorff-Gasse will offer ethnically diverse cuisine during the whole festival. Culinary Cinema invites journalists and photographers to sample the diverse selection on February 6th at 11.15 a.m. prior to the opening film.

Documentaries at the 64th Berlinale
A total of 64 documentaries and documental forms will be shown across all sections in 2014. In addition, the documentary is the emphasis of several events at the European Film Market, Berlinale Co-Production Market and Berlinale Talents.

Berlinale Camera
The German filmmaker and producer Karl “Baumi” Baumgartner will be honoured with the Berlinale Camera on February 8th. There is a limited number of tickets available to accredited press at the Press Ticket Counter. Tickets for The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari
A limited number of tickets will be available to accredited press and trade professionals at the preferential price of 15 €. Tickets can be purchased at the Berlinale Service Center (debis Atrium) from 8.30 a.m – 7.00 p.m. starting February 8th.
Berlinale Shorts Online
A selection of works from past Berlinale Shorts programmes will be available as online streams between January and November 2014. The films will be available for four weeks starting from the date of their release.

Musician John Zorn to DJ
On February 9th at 8.00 p.m. at HAU 1, John Zorn, a key figure of the American experimental music avant-garde, will accompany two films by queer underground legend Jack Smith with records from the filmmaker’s own collection.

Forum 2014: First black-and-white silent film in 3D
A group of believers on the steps of a Parisian church is the main subject in The Guests – a one-minute film from the year 1896. Digitally restored and extended to 70 minutes by US avant-garde filmmaker Ken Jacobs, this black-and-white silent film is probably the first ever of its kind in 3D.
Perspektive Deutsches Kino goes behind bars
The documentary Raumfahrer (Spacemen) by Georg Nonnenmacher, which follows an inmate during transport, will be shown in a special screening at JVA Tegel penitentiary.

Inclusion Services
In an attempt to include everyone, the Berlinale is offering a number of new services: at four (subtitled) screenings of films from different sections, sign language interpreters will be on hand to translate the discussions of the films afterwards. The press conferences for the Competition films Die geliebten Schwestern (Beloved Sisters), Jack, and Kreuzweg (Stations of the Cross) will also be translated by sign language interpreters and live streamed at www.berlinale.de. An audio description for the visually impaired will be available at the screening of Stereo (Panorama) and of Die geliebten Schwestern (Beloved Sisters).
Berlinale App – Now for Androids too
With our mobile services, Berlinale visitors may now easily and directly access and search the programme, as well as find information about individual venues, while they are out and about. During the Berlinale 2014, visitors to the festival may not only use the mobile website m.berlinale.de and a free iPhone app at the iTunes Store, but also an Android app on Google Play.
