About Superfest:

Superfest is the longest running film festival venerating disability in films. Founded in 1970, this yearly Bay Area grassroots event has grown into an international media showcase honoring the unique contributions of the expanding disability arts and culture movement, exhibiting the most innovative and provocative works from established and emerging filmmakers. Crucial to Superfest is that the majority of the leaders, jurors and participants are people with disabilities whose judgments and values inform festival choices.

Superfest 2014:

Theme: Superfest 2014 will focus exclusively on short films 40 minutes and under in length that compellingly portray disabilities or are written, produced, directed or starring disabled individuals. Judges will assess entries in the competition based on a number of critical artistic criteria, including: artistic merit, impactful message and cutting edge cinematography.

Where: The festival will be held at the magnificent Contemporary Jewish Museum in the heart of the San Francisco, next to Yerba Buena Gardens, SFMOMA and the Metreon.

When: November 2, 2014 – specific times for film showings will be announced once we finalize the program.

Accommodations: In addition to ample space for wheelchairs, a friendly environment for service animals and a scent-free environment, films will be audio described and captioned to ensure a welcoming environment for people of all disabilities.
