Shooting stars shine on the Berlinale red carpet

Following an intense schedule of high-profile events during the first weekend of the 63rd Berlin International Film Festival, tonight marked the official unveiling of the 2013 SHOOTING STARS- Europe’s best young actors- at the annual Shooting Stars Awards Ceremony.



Celebrating both individual achievements and their collective acting talent, the ceremony- now in its 16th year- is an integral event in the Berlinale calendar and a celebration of emerging young European film talent. Once again this year it took place at the prestigious Berlinale Palast, in the presence of invited industry guests.



This year’s Shooting Stars are 10 of the most promising young actors from all over Europe,  chosen by a select jury of film industry professionals for their formidable talent and undeniable potential. This year’s chosen 10 are: Mikkel Boe Følsgaard (DENMARK), Laura Birn (FINLAND), Christa Théret(FRANCE), Saskia Rosendahl (GERMANY), Luca Marinelli (ITALY), Arta Dobroshi (REPUBLIC OF KOSOVO), Ada Condeescu (ROMANIA), Jure Henigman (SLOVENIA), Nermina Lukač(SWEDEN) and Carla Juri (SWITZERLAND).



Prior to Monday evening’s Awards Ceremony, this year’s Stars had participated in meetings with casting directors, a major press event with invited international media, photo shootings, a workshop with international agents and several evening events around the city.

Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke were on hand to introduce this year’s SHOOTING STARS on to the stage at the Berlinale Palast and presented them with their individual awards– donated by main partner TESIRO to honour their outstanding artistic achievements in feature film.



Following the ceremony, the ten young stars celebrated with VIP's from the film industry at Soho House, Berlin.

EFP’s annual talent platform SHOOTING STARS – Europe’s Best Young Actors – is financially supported by the MEDIA Programme of the European Union, and the participating EFP members. Furthermore the project is supported by its cooperation partners.
